After liasing with Barry N1EU and Ed DD5LP on options for the Spring 2019 Trans-Atlantic S2S Event, we have settled on Saturday 20th April 2019 between 13:00 UTC to 17:00 UTC.
As usual, all activators and chasers are invited to take part regardless of where you are located. The aim of this event is to get as many activators as possible on summits each side of the Atlantic at the same time. Hopefully this year we will have activity from South America as well as from the USA and Canada.

P.S. Long-stop date for your diary:
Autumn 2019 Trans-Atlantic Event - Saturday 2nd November 2019 between 13:00 and 17:00 UTC.
Book the good weather now!
I am just bumping this back onto the front page in the light of advice on the QRPTTF event which has finally been announced as being on 27th April this year, one week later than we anticipated.
As we are only a few weeks away from the Trans-Atlantic S2S event, I feel that we have made our decision and should keep the proposed date of Saturday 20th April 2019.
Great, we’ll all come round to hear you play after the S2S event. We will be expecting a solo from you.
Seriously, not being a politian, I am concerned that changing the date will upset arrangements that have already been put in place by potential participants. The date of 20th April was set out three weeks ago and activators have had that time to make arrangements. If there is a significant reason for us to change to 27th April, then we can do that, but I need to know about it - and quick!
Sorry Tom, your gig affects no-one but yourself (and Jimmy maybe) and doesn’t therefore fit into the “significant” category.
Sorry, but 2nd November 2019 is non-negotiable. This is not a UK<>EU S2S event run from Brussels!
The alerts come in late for these events, typically during the last fortnight. It will probably have hit a few diaries of both the paper and data varieties., with the summits yet to be decided. I don’t even know where I am going yet…
Well I have also alerted for 20th April Ed, provisionally for a GW summit. I have not been inundated with emails or posts requesting the 27th, so we will stick with the originally agreed date. It is just unfortunate that we have a late Easter this year, so some won’t be around. You can only please some people some of the time… C’est la vie!
Of course more important than Easter is what the propagation will do and that’s all over the place at the moment! I worked into South Africa and Indonesia yesterday - out of nowhere. Space weather says the chances were low but the stations were there. Lets hope for similar luck on the 20th.
NOOO! REALLY? I guess they looked at the conflicting events on the 27th. as well.
OK but apart from those who unfortunately have to work or have other commitments we’re going to see if we can beat the bad propagation from as many SOTA summits as possible on April 20th.
I am relieved that we decided to stay with April 20th as a piece I created last week for ARNewsline covering both the April 6th and 20th S2S events has been included in this weeks show. The show is now released as a Podcast and will be broadcast at the weekend over repeaters and from amateur stations around the world.
It would have been a shame if over 125,000 amateurs world-wide would had been told the wrong date!
