Summit Activation Correction

After wasting the best part of 2 hours and 3 attempts today, at trying to ascend the approach to Long Mynd from Church Stretton, I gave up and drove to Caer Caradoc Hill where this approach wasn’t much better :frowning:

Finally, I made my way to G/WB-003 Stiperstones, however, I managed to alert myself and was spotted as G/WB-005 Long Mynd. The error was picked up very quickly and the spot was ammended.

Just to confirmation for a few early chasers, I was in fact activating G/WB-003 Stiperstones.

Apologies for the hassle.

Cheers Rick, I’ve had less stressful activatios

BTW, nice to work you on the 40m band with my super lightweight HF antenna, weighing in at just 240 grammes.

It’s a nice walk from Church Stretton to Long Mynd, it’s also an easy walk across from Church Stretton to Caer Caradoc. Both can easily be done in a day on foot. They make a nice day out by train and were both done on SOTA’s very first day.

No problem Matt, having a ball is what it’s all about. I’m pleased the new antenna seems to be working well,

Well done on so many S2S. Sadly, I missed a few due to my unforseen delay :frowning:

To be honest Richard, I did consider the walk. There were shed loads of hikers going up there. Unfortunately, I’d geared myself up for a short walk from the car park. It’s a bit of a slap to the trig with a 20Ah SLAB, 857, Collinear and poles, without all the other junk I was carrying.

I’ll try and work it in the next week or two.

BTW, thanks for the /M contact.

That sounds like the kind of antenna I could use… What kind of beast is it?

Don’t start him off Rick.

If he gets upset he will start throwing groundplanes around and scratching innocent folks cars…blame the ponies Mick - like you usually do.

His super light weight hf aerial is only let down by the fact that it hangs off the top of a 20Kg colinear and 2 x 2.5m poles each weighing the equivalent of decent scaffolding…more /A than /P

Oi, I’m not the one who throws tantrums, even when hauling somones “flat” 17Ah SLAB up the Gritstone Trail! Perhaps you thought I needed the excersise :-)))
