Radio Shropshire advised this morning that Burway Road, the approach to Long Mynd - Pole Bank (G/WB-005) from Church Stretton, has been closed due to a landslip. There is no indication how long the road will be closed for.

Fortunately there are several alternatives. For instance its a very scenic drive up to the summit area from the west: I would suggest doing the Stiperstones first then driving via Bridges to Pole Bank (it is signposted but you don’t get much chance to see the sign when the leaves are on the trees, unless some civic-minded gentleman has been out with a machette!) The road up from the south by the gliding club is a bit white knuckle but easy to find. There is also an access from the north but I haven’t been that way for over forty years…
