During my activation today of W2/GC-010, RBN spotted me 3 times when I was calling an activator on their CQ frequency (i.e., attempting an s2s). Unfortunately the Reverse Beacon Net doesn’t seem to enforce strict guidelines on only spotting a station if they also send CQ etc, because I certainly only sent the other callsign DE my callsign and that triggered errant spots by RBN nodes, which understandably triggered errant spots by RBNHole.
Here’s the sequence that includes the 2 of the bad spots (#2 and #4 in sequence):
Sat 14:57 N1EU on W2/GC-010 14.0625 cw
*[RBNHole] at K2PO 22 WPM 11 dB SNR (Posted by RBNHOLE)
Sat 15:05 N1EU on W2/GC-010 14.0541 cw
*[RBNHole] at K1TTT 23 WPM 8 dB SNR (Posted by RBNHOLE)
Sat 15:08 N1EU on W2/GC-010 14.0625 cw
*[RBNHole] at WA7LNW 22 WPM 4 dB SNR (Posted by RBNHOLE)
Sat 15:09 N1EU on W2/GC-010 14.0559 cw
*[RBNHole] at K1TTT 22 WPM 7 dB SNR (Posted by RBNHOLE)
The spots on 14.0625 are correct - that’s my CQ frequency. But I simply called 9A3NC once on 14.0541 and HB9GKP once on 14.0559.
Just something to bear in mind as as activator OR chaser.
BTW, NA-EU condx were fantastic on 20M and especially 18M at 1500Z. A side note: all the W4G activators that had alerted for this time seemed to have evaporated - sorry to miss all you guys.
It was a gloriously beautiful autumn day in the Catskills today!
