Horrible featureless midge-infested tedious bog of a hill. Might return someday to do the trig point which is fortunately much nearer the road. Not sure if it is in the activation zone though.
The last summit of our trip to the Sperrins area, and we will definitely be back to tackle the bigger hills in the region. This page also has pictures from our visits to Bushmills and White Park Bay en route back to Larne.
A few odds and ends tidied up so that The Cloud G/SP-015 and Gun G/SP-013 pages are up-to-date too. Near the bottom of the G/SP-015 page, you can see the photos of the new (to us) path investigated by Liam and I.
My website is completely up-to-date, with reports, details, photos and logs appearing on an individual webpage (all indexed) of every one of the 1791 activations I have done - so far…
Big effort, Tom. Interesting reading and viewing.
It’s an interesting confluence of skills; maths, music and morse. They do go hand in hand, so often.

Thanks Andrew. Indeed, music is an audible version of mathematics, and the theory and notation of music is entirely mathematical. Mr Pythagoras had a big part to play in the development of both I believe.
There is no doubt that I found morse “fairly”* easy to learn because I was already an experienced musician. *(It still took a fair bit of effort and determination!).
I suppose 400 activator uniques is the next target now. Which will mean yet more pages on my website! Nice to know someone out there is reading it anyway!
Thought I’d better do a bit on the website. Couldn’t let it get to a full year without an update!
As it is, I’ve still got loads to do. The reports, photos, pages etc are all complete up to December 31st 2015. So I’ve still got all this year’s to so…
Click on SOTA on the left-hand side (menu pane) and go from there.
The ones to select from the index (that have been updated with new reports, routes, photos etc) are:
El Teide EA8/TF-001
Guajara EA8/TF-002
Ingleborough G/NP-008
Tal y Fan GW/NW-040
Great Orme GW/NW-070
Easington Fell G/SP-012
Arnside Knott G/LD-058
Hutton Roof Crags G/LD-052
Lambrigg Fell G/LD-046
Shining Tor G/SP-004
Gun G/SP-013
The Cloud G/SP-015
Kinder Scout G/SP-001
Black Hill G/SP-002
Shining Tor G/SP-004
Gun G/SP-013
The Cloud G/SP-015
Moel y Gamelin GW/NW-042
Cyrn-y-Brain GW/NW-043
This also means that a huge amount of new material published yesterday is now on the “2015” links (at the foot of the webpages for Shining Tor, Gun and The Cloud). So have a look there for some further reading material if you have some time to kill.
Plus lots more reports and photos on the pages for:
The Cloud G/SP-015
Gun G/SP-013
Shining Tor G/SP-004
In particular, the Shining Tor 2016 page has lots of photos, including the long walk-in from Whaley Bridge via Taxal Edge, Windgather and Pym Chair, and the meet up with Andy G6PJZ.
The next series of updates will be for mine and Jimmy’s trip to GI/SW and GI/SM.
But for now … another activation methinks. I did say I wanted to check out 17m at evening time - well here goes…
The final remaining webpages that needed updating with activation reports and photos were:
Normanby Top G/TW-005
Bishop Wilton Wold G/TW-004
Gun G/SP-013
The Cloud G/SP-015
I will now have some breathing space for a few days, as I no longer have a car so can’t get out activating. I may have to hire something for the Snowdonia trip, but there’s a chance I may have my new motor by then. We will see.
