My first SOTA activation DM / RP-150 on 25/08/2014

Start was the place Kröv, a small village in the Mosel valley.
The path led us in a zigzag on agricultural paths always up for Mosel-trail “M”. In a westerly direction until crossing trail No. 7. This comes from Kinheim and results in direct increase to the Kinheimer chapel just below the “Kinheimer -Höhe”. Walking time about 2 hours.

Apart from the usual walking equipment this time were additionally attended:
1 QRP 3-band transceiver HB-1A, 2 LiPo´s 11.1V 1700mAh, MP1 antenna, 10 m coax cable. , a small Palm-morse-key, headphones and a small writing pad.

The construction site was no problem. Sitting on the floor, the writing pad on the legs, I started the activation.
After the first small Pilup was then all on the small not fixed pad: the paperlog, the Morse key and the pencil always in motion and always where I could not use it.

Nothing with a restful SOTA activation — pure stress.

Conclusion:
There is a lot to improve … nevertheless I had a lot of fun … it will not be the last activation.

Thanks again to everyone with whom I had contact. on the occasion of my first SOTA activation.

If there are any errors in the LOG (transfer from Papierlog- in some places only barely legible, please short info to “Call” “at” darc “dot” de)

Hi Frank, glad you enjoyed your activation. I stayed in a ferienwohnung in Kröv last year in the middle of the vineyards. I have activated DM/RP-150 twice. First time was 3 years ago when I activated from near the mobile phone mast. Last year it was raining so I used the small Wald Rastplatz east of the summit to keep dry.

Hi Steve,
nice to hear from you that this beautiful place in the Moselle Valley is wellknown for you . Despite all the problems with my first activation everything was so much fun that I have a tour rescheduled three days later so that I could make operating for about half an hour from the same location again . Unfortunately an activation of the fortress ruin Mont Royal DL-00758 was not particularly successful. Max. 2 watts from the HB-1A at a MP1 produce too little signal strength, especially if the location is a bit inconvenient.

hear you soon

Congrats on your 1st activation Frank!
I hope many more will follow (maybe together someday).
