Least activated summit

Apologies if something like this is available, but I can’t find it.

We have many lists of MOST stuff, most activated, most points etc, but how do we find which are LEAST activated?

How about a list of LEAST activated summits (filtered by region etc), and/or not activated recently.

It would help people thinking “where shall I activate this weekend?”

Just a thought.

In reply to G7TAC:

Every day, about 600z the summitslist.csv file is generated. It has every summit, all the details about it, who activated it last and how many times it has been activated. There are 50029 active summits and soon there will be another 3700 added to that.

I’m sure you’ll find something unactivated/rarely activated in there that suits your needs.

It is found from the summits page on the database at SOTA Database where there is a link to http://www.sotadata.org.uk/summitslist.csv

Ahh, now that would be helpful - although a bit of a DIY option

Again, maybe it’s just me, but I can’t find a link to it anywhere. I got it by typing the URL in direct.

It’s you. There’s a link on the page quoted.

Found it.

Under the LIST ALL SUMMITS menu, hiding at the bottom.

Thanks

In reply to G7TAC:

I suppose there was no point me posting a link was there. I’ll know for next time!

In reply to G7TAC:

OK confused again.

The CSV I’ve just downloaded and sorted says that no one has activated Scafell Pike, but the website says 109 activations.

Even if this is just me again (I’m having a bad night) it adds to my suggestion of an automatic list - maybe a ‘Please Activate’ list of summits not activated recently.

Just going back to the CSV file to see if I’m doing something wrong here.

Tim.C

EDIT : Spotted it now - the CSV file has ‘legacy’ data in it - Scafell Pike is in twice

Again, trying to work from raw data is always going to be confusing.

I’m happy now, though. Got it sussed.

Yes, exactly that kind of thing, but as LIVE data. That looks like some has manually pulled it from the raw data.

Is this better? http://www.sotawatch.org/summits.php

Neil 2M0NCM

In reply to 2M0NCM:
That’s exactly the way I do it. Do a distance search around your QTH and look for summits with 0 activations. Being logged in in SOTAWatch you see also how oft you have activated or chased the summit.

Its only there once in today’s list.

It was only in yesterday’s list once.

I wonder can you get the points for all 16 every 12 months Andy? I think I’ll go and pour a large drink, it might stop me seeing double!

Karen

In reply to MM0FMF:

That GM list is little short of amazing, Andy. You would expect it to be mainly obscure summits well off the beaten track, but in fact it includes many of the bread-and-butter hills, the popular mountains that even the hardened Munro-bagger will return to for sheer pleasure! Surely beautiful mountains like Sgurr a’Chaorachain, Maoile Lunndaidh, Cona’ Meall and Luinne Bheinn must soon hear CQ echoing around their summits?

Brian GO8ADD

In reply to G8ADD:

The GM list gets smaller all the time. Often it’s simply that there are so many other gorgeous summits that are a bit easier/nearer and with 1214 (I think) there’s plenty for everyone. It’s simply a matter of time before they’re conquered, Stacs excepted. I suppose they’ll be done one day but they’re a serious challenge, both as a climb and logistically.

In reply to 2E0XYL:

Yes, I really should look at what I paste. Or more likely check the old SQL commands more carefully in future!

In reply to K6ILM:

The scale of the W6 upgrade will be nothing in comparison with all of Alaska! But all we need is a volunteer to identify 10-20 summits in and around Anchorage say and you’ve got an ideal holiday destination association. Of course if someone wants a challenge…

Andy

In reply to MM0FMF:

Andy, your list includes GM/SS-157. I thought it was deleted, has it been reinstated?

The hard work has already been done!

At Chugach State Park Peaks - Peakbagger.com there is a list of all 122 major summits of Chugach State Park. This park is the primary mountain playground for residents of Alaska’s largest city. All that needs doing is to strip out the peaks with a prominence of less than 500 feet. Now there’s an invitation for somebody …
