It's on for sure: HB9SOTA group activation on Saturday 10 March

After last week’s extreme weather and the need to cancel the HB9SOTA group activation of HB/FR-033 Niremont, our club president Juerg HB9BIN has decided we will definitely make the activation this weekend – even though the weather forecast again is not the best. This time, though, we are expecting a good deal of precipitation whether as a rainstorm or wet snow. The summit is at 1514 m ASL and temperatures are forecast to be above 10 deg C / high 40s or low 50s F.

No matter what, Juerg HB9BIN will be leading the party – and he’s hoping for a good showing of other club members who will make the trip to this end of the country to join him.

Here are the details, taken from last week’s announcement:
On Saturday, HB9SOTA will be conducting its second group activation of this winter season. This time, and for the first time ever, we will be in the French-speaking part of the country. Specifically, we will activate HB/FR-033 Niremont, which is located roughly 15 km north of Montreux and Lake Geneva.

Chasers, as always for a group activation, please help us make sure that everyone gets their 4 QSOs. If you hear somebody repeatedly calling CQ, please help them out.

Further, any and all SOTA activators who are not members of HB9SOTA are also warmly welcomed to join the fun! The starting point of the hike will be at the Restaurant Cabane du Petit Oiseau (coordinates 46.5438 / 6.0774). And after the activation, we invite you to join us for a beverage at the restaurant with HB9SOTA picking up the tab.

We hope to hear many of you chasers, and it would be wonderful if we could see some new faces, as well.
