High power activation?

#1

I earlier participated in some JOTA (Jamboree on the air) activities with a local scout group and have recently been asked for more. I would like to make a high power (100 w) SSB winter-SOTA activity with them. Do the SOTA-rules allow that the scouts carry the equipment (tent, large batteries, propane heater etc)?

Hi Mike

The rules state that the equipment must be carried by the activating team, the scouts can legally give greetings messages, so are therefore part of the activating team.

I see no problem whatsoever if they carry equipment. Have a great time.

P.S. I just checked the rules Mike. Rules for activators 3.7.1 item 5. states…
“All equippment must be carried to the site by the activating team”. (see page 10 of the general rules) I reckon you are fire proof.
