HB9RE silent key

Dear friends,

I would like to inform you about the death of my

He died on Dec 19, 2009 at the age of 81 years.
I am happy about the wonderful time I spent with him
as a son and a radio-friend, and would like to say
THANK-YOU to all SOTA friends for the wonderful
time he had with you.

I am really sorry to hear about your loss. Long before I got involved with SOTA I often worked Fritz on 10m and exchanged 10-10 numbers and chapter information. My sincere condolences to you Fritz, and to the rest of the family.

Fritz

I am so sorry to hear the sad news that your Father, Fritz Snr, has become a Silent Key.

I will miss the exchanges between yourself and Papa when you are ready to activate a SOTA.

He will be missed both on the SOTA bands and Amateur Radio in general.

Please accept my condolences on your loss.

Dear Fritz,

I am very sorry to hear this sad news. I am proud to have worked your father on several of my SOTA activations. The first time was 0913 on 13 May 2007, 40m CW on The Cloud G/SP-015, a memorable activation for me as it was my first time as an activator on CW. The last time was nearly one year ago, 30th December 2008, 80m CW on Aye Gill Pike G/NP-023. In between he worked me on several other summits, including GW, GM and GI. His support was always deeply appreciated.

I offer my sincere condolences to you, and your family, at this difficult time.

Best wishes and 73,

Tom M1EYP

In reply to HB9CSA:
Hallo Fritz,

I’ve been thinking the other day that there was a HB9 callsign that I was missing
in my recent activations. It was his very typical RE.

Very sorry to hear of your loss Fritz. Worked him many times and he was a real ‘Gentleman of the air’.
Kindest regards and best wishes.

What more can I add to the list of tributes above? The number of replies in such a short space of time shows just how much Fritz meant to the SOTA community. He will be much missed in the pile-ups.

Our thoughts are with you in your time of sorrow.
