GW/NW-001 Pen y Pass car parking meter problems

In reply to G8ADD:
Hi Brian, I’ve climbed on Dinas Mot (been a while!) but not done that. Sounds like a nice idea. A few times I have climbed routes on Idwal Slabs, continuation wall and the top wall, finishing up senior ridge to the summit of Glyder Fach. That’s a nice thing to do.

Anyway, think we’ve hijacked this post!

Back to the original theme, a specific “good day out” is to park in Nant Gwynant (for the Watkin path), get the Sherpa bus to Pen y Pass and then climb Snowdon and go down the south ridge and climb Yr Aran, before descending to your car at Nant Gwynant. As stated before there are some “free” parking spots down there.

Another alternative for Pen y Pass is to park at SH598587 near Nant Peris (a free, designated parking area at the roadside) and walk the short distance to catch the Sherpa bus in Nant Peris. Better not to wait in the Park and Ride, as sometimes the driver will not turn in if he cannot see cars parked there. Sherpa now charge a flat fare of £1.00 per person.
