The weather was atrocious on LD-004 on Tuesday so my activation was as quick as it could be, to save damage to my FT-817. A rucksack special half wave was used. We walked up from Keswick town via the so called “Tourist Trail” and went back the same route owing to the condx.
Thank you to the six operators who were logged: G0TDM John, G4WHA/M Geoff, G1OHH Sue, G1OAE Tony, G4USW Bill and 2E0WXL Alan. Visibility was down to around 25m on the top and despite Roger M3ZDI/P being QRV at the same time, same band and on the same hill as myself, we never met up. Roger was busy escorting a lost walker off the Fell back down to Keswick during my activity which lasted about 10 minutes. One picture of my friends, my XYL and myself is on Flickr, typical LD weather I guess!
This was my first 10 point activation and I was grateful to Roy G4SSH and John G0TDM for the spots.
I hope to work a lot more chasers on Saturday morning from Mickle Fell NP-002 on HF CW/SSB - WX, Gamekeepers and Shooters permitting.
