As I’ll be on holydays in Ireland on next august, I’m pleased to informe you that I’ll try to activate EI and GI SOTA with a 5W pocket on 2m/70cm bands and FM mode.
Here is my provisional schedule:
06-12/08 : EI/IW, especially Connemara summits around Twelve Bens
13/08 : EI/IN, south Donnegal
14/08 : EI/IN, north Donnegal
15/08 : GI/AH, BallyCastle
16/08 : GI/AH or GI/MM, North Belfast
17/08 : GI/MM, South Belfast
Of course, all this depend on weather and other familial activities
Any advice and comments coming from your experience are welcome !
Hope you have a great holiday when you get over here. I think you will have better luck with a handheld when you are in the EI/IN and GI regions, although the walking is much better over here in EI/IW . I’ve always struggled to get 2m simplex contacts west of Galway. The Twelve Bens will be particularly tricky as they don’t overlook any area of significant population.
Unfortunately, I will be on holiday in EI/IE the week when you are over in the west. However, I will be qrv on 2m regularly in the week 7-13/08 from EI/IE and will try for s2s, if possible. Hopefully you will be lucky with the wx for your visit.
