Database Problems

As you may have noticed, the main SOTA website and the SOTA database website are both currently off line.

Last night our web hosting company (webhosts4life.com) decided to move the database website onto a more powerful server. This should have been a trouble-free operation, with no visible impact.

Unfortunately something has obviously gone wrong with the upgrade. We have raised a call with the ISP, who tell us that they are investigating the issues, but they are currently forecasting 24-48 hours before it will be fixed.

Sotawatch is still running as it is an independent system, hosted by a different company.

We hope to get everything restored to normal as soon as possible. Meanwhile, thank you for your patience, and have a good weekend.

In reply to G0HJQ: Please excuse the (possible) display of ignorance from an only partially reformed computer Luddite, but would this be why I couldn’t self-spot today from GW/NW-034?

Regards, Dave, G6DTN

ps If the upgrade didn’t work, shouldn’t they return to the one that worked, or is that too simple a concept?

Possibly, but we are just told that we will have to wait.

Don’t suppose there’s any volcanic ash in there screwing up the works?

is it possible to restart the “crosscheck” (activator => chaser-log) on the new server? That was a nice tool …
