Hello SOTA ops!
On Saturday, HB9SOTA will be conducting its second group snowshoe activation of this winter season. This time, and for the first time ever, we will be in the French-speaking part of the country. Specifically, we will activate HB/FR-033 Niremont, which is located roughly 15 km north of Montreaux and Lake Geneva. This a popular summit that can be activated in almost any conditions without avalanche danger.
Chasers, as always for a group activation, please help us make sure that everyone gets their 4 QSOs. If you hear somebody repeatedly calling CQ, please help them out.
Further, any and all SOTA activators who are not members of HB9SOTA are also warmly – we hope, given recent arctic conditions – welcomed to join the fun! The starting point of the hike will be at the Restaurant Cabone du Petit Oiseau (coordinates 46.5438 / 6.0774). For those on skis, there is also a lift that brings you very close to the summit. And after the activation, we invite you to join us for a beverage at the restaurant with HB9SOTA picking up the tab.
We hope to hear many of you chasers, and it would be wonderful if we could see some new faces, as well.
On behalf of HB9SOTA, Paul HB9DST
