380mhz-430mhz

i have just acquired 2 antennas for 380-430 MHz, not realising, these are not our bands, so if anyone can make use of them please e-mail me at m0sgb@yahoo.co.uk

Can you not shorten them for 430-440?
What sort of antennas?

Chop the whip down to about 6 1/2 inches and they should be good for 433 mHz.
Best if you can find someone with an antenna analyser and trim them accurately but an SWR bridge that covers 70cms would get you near enough to use. They should make a nice low impact alternative to a dual band antenna.

Trim them in situ as the environment can have a big affect on antennas like these. Also do the trimming in stages. It’s always easier to take another mm off the length than add it back on!
